I saw a post on NRO’s The Corner last week advertising a stock of books, as edited by Rich Lowry, that were published by National Review in 2004 in commemoration of Reagan’s work on the occasion of his death. As they have been doing with some of William F. Buckley’s books, where they have been selling at reasonably cheap original stock from Buckley’s own collection, including hardcover editions, this one was $12 including shipping (the postal meter label was $2.29) for the 200 page paperback. The book is titled Tear Down This Wall: The Reagan Revolution, A National Review History. It mixes important speeches and writings of Reagan with some remembrances by others as well.
See their 2004 announcement of the book, from October 28, 2004 in The Corner, by NR Associate Publisher Jack Fowler:
Tear Down This Wall: The Reagan Revolution—A National Review History” is now available at fine book stores (Barnes and Noble has taken a big stash, and it’s available via the B&N website). Published by Continuum, and featuring an Introduction by Rich Lowry, Tear Down This Wall is a wonderful collection of NR on the Gipper: articles by him (Reagan’s 1973 NR piece on “Spending and the Nature of Government” is a beaut), articles about him (by Bill Buckley, Margaret Thatcher, Bob Bork, Paul Johnson, and many more), and even some of his classic speeches—including two about his favorite conservative magazine!—make this handsome softcover a must for any conservative library. The cost is just $12.95. Get ’em while they’re hot!
The B&N Link still works, but B&N asks a higher price. NR’s own website doesn’t show it as an available item, and the July 24, 2008 post above has been updated to reflect it is now sold out, and out of print. My apologies that I did not write this sooner - it came in the mail from NR’s New York offices on Tuesday, and I didn’t read the first part of it - Reagan’s “Rendezvous with Destiny” speech - until last night. That October 27, 1964 speech is still current and is as applicable today as it was then. The Reagan Library has a transcript of this speech online.
The economy grew at a 1.9% pace for the 2nd Quarter 2008, up from the 0.9% for the 1st quarter. What is puzzling is the Reuters story claiming that this avoided the definition of recession, even as it acknowledged it followed a first quarter with growth. One could understand that statement if the first quarter had been negative growth, but Reuters’ whole story smacks of negativeness.

That’s right, eat it ‘Hockey’ … with your moose-dropping encrusted boots, your Canadians and your hockey-hair.
woo-hoo!

Oh… I’m sorry, is my ‘cs’ in your ‘y’? (dances all over Hockey)
If we don’t act now, by radically altering how we distribute our population’s feet, landmasses will be slip-sliding all over the planet’s surface. But you don’t even care. Take a moment to think of future generations and visit my website stopcontinentaldriftnow.org to determine your ‘gravitational footprint’ which is a highly scientific process to determine exactly how much of the Earth’s magma you are forcing up through the Mid-Atlantic ridge, yearly. From that we can calculate an offsetting cost by comparing that number to the price of a Toyota Prius. Then you pay that amount to stopcontinentaldrift.org and thereby offset your contribution to this impending global catastrophe. We then use your contribution to buy more Toyota Prius hybrid electric cars, and use them to plug up the Mid-Atlantic ridge.

Well, I finally got myself banned permanently from the GalacticSenate.com, and I’m glad.
I’ve spent the last few days deleting several hundred of my past postings there, and those I did not delete I edited to contain the simple phrase, “Who is John Galt?”

And despite all this yammering about the polar ice caps, no one even cares about our oceans, or the ground beneath our feet. So let me be the first to say it:

It’s been awhile since my last post. Though I do come here and read, so I’m here in spirit.
Is it me or does the media is absolutely in love with Obama? Starstruck, in awe like some rock god.
There is something wrong with this. It only shows just how the media must have created this fictional character. Yeah, I know Obama is real alright. But they’ve made him into something he’s not. Which would be the savior of Iraq. One of the only small reasons on why they chose him.

Christopher Nolan has been reading. Probably something like Julian Baggini’s The Pig that Wants to be Eaten, or another work on morality and decision making. He has also crafted another film that makes my top-five of all time, his second on that list, a twisted comic book opus.
It’s not long after the events of Batman Begins and Christian Bale’s Batman is still upgrading his cool shit, dating a procession of hot chicks, driving Lamborghinis and fighting crime in Gotham City. Criminals are on the run and people are standing up to the mob, who now have pretty much no power at all. Lieutenant Gordon’s (Gary Oldman) unit is fighting the good, corrupt fight, and new DA Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is hell bent on finishing the crims off. Things quickly begin to spiral out of hand though. In a backlash against this new holy trinity a new criminal turns up, bent only on mayhem and destruction. Heath Ledger’s peerless Joker. Move over, Michael T. Weiss. You have competition for your former title role, The Pretender.
Barack Obama claimed that he was on the Senate Banking Committee, that it was “my committee”, yesterday while in Israel.
Powerline has been all over it - Scott Johnson this AM (”Obama’s Committee of the Hole”), and John Hinderaker yesterday (”The Fine Line Between Pandering and Lying”). Hinderaker first noted the Banking Committee lie, while Johnson followed up with the story of Obama’s former position against the very thing he now says he’s for, when he said he would have voted against sanctions in September 2007, when only 22 Senators voted against them, whereby he proceeded to lambaste Clinton at a Democrat debate for the position.
More below the fold.

nbsp;Sci-Fi.com now has the 90 second trailer for the new BSG spinoff, Caprica, online. It is set as a prequel, a generation before BSG.
It appears the elder Adama is the same actor that played Major Beck in the 2nd season of Jericho.
