Wal-Mart Sale on Black Barbies
More evidence that the election of Barack Obama has not led us into a golden age of post-racism:
Walmart: Black Barbie Sold Cheaper Than White Barbie
Walmart is raising eyebrows after cutting the price of a black Barbie doll to nearly half of that of the doll's white counterpart at one store and possibly others.
So this blatant racism might possibly be occuring at other stores?
The article continues:
Greeks Crumbling Under Socialism
In case you had not yet heard, Greece is slipping deeper into insolvency, and the socialist / unionists of the country are going on strike. It's all just so, so sad. The cradle of Western Civilization, laid low by unionized workers.
Anthrax-Brewing Cross-Dressing Terrorist Endorses Obama
Thanks to a FOIA release thesmokinggun.com has the report on who the FBI believed was behind the 2001 anthrax bombings. The suspect: one Dr. Ivins, who it turns out was a cross-dresser, was infatuated with sororities (ok, what red-blooded man isn't, but read the report) and was terrified of Dick Cheney.
TSG reports that Ivins claimed in a 2008 e-mail:
"Dick Cheney scares me. The Patriot Act is so unconstitutional it's not even funny. I'm voting for Obama!!"
O to Meet With GOP
A few weeks back President Obama (aka The Worst President in American History) proposed that Democrats and Republicans sit down and discuss how best to solve America's healthcare 'crisis'.
From the linked NYT article:
President Obama said Sunday that he would convene a half-day bipartisan health care session at the White House to be televised live this month, a high-profile gambit that will allow Americans to watch as Democrats and Republicans try to break their political impasse.
Televised? Will it be televised in the same way the ObamaCare bill was televised, as Obama promised on at least eight ocassions during his 2008 campaign? That kind of televised event? For those who haven't been paying attention, Obama broke that promise. The bills put together by Congressional Democrats were drafted behind closed doors, with no cameras, no CNN coverage, and -- natch, no Republicans.
SuperBowls, Green Police and Samurai
Despite the Jets being knocked out of the SuperBowl this year, I did watch the game. Having absolutely nothing at stake in the game, my family split along predictable lines. My mother sided with the Colts because one of the commentators is the father of the Colt's quarterback.
As an agent of chaos, I tend to side with the underdog -- the Saints. Who, incidentally, won the game. (Chaos 1, World 0)
The game was great, but some commercials jumped out at me. The two best appear after the jump.
Rep. Clyburn: "We've Got To Spend Our Way Out of Recession!"
Nothing illustrates the massive gulf of understanding that exists between the Left and Right than Rep. James Clyburn's (D-SC) recent declaration that the only way to grow the economy is by going deeply into debt.
"We're not going to save our way out of this recession," the majority whip added. "We've got to spend our way out of this recession, and I think most economists know that."
I challenge Clyburn to produce evidence of a civilization that taxed itself into prosperity.
Obama SOTU Address: "I Will Not Change"
President Obama gave his first State of the Union address this past Wednesday, the transcript of which can be found online. It was interesting on a number of levels. The most anticipated question was whether Obama would use this opportunity to 'pivot' to the center politically. This was an important speech for the president considering the massive backlash his presidency is experiencing lately. Americans overwhelmingly oppose ObamaCare and feel Obama is not doing enough to create jobs.
Amazingly, Obama declared in his speech last night that he won't be pivoting, he won't be changing. It's America that's got to change. Follow the jump for more highlights.
A Prayer for Ryan
A quick personal announcement: my best friend Will's wife recently gave birth to an adorable baby boy named Ryan. He was born a few weeks early, and in all likelihood he's going to be an NFL linebacker, but please say a prayer for the little guy. They had to drain one of his lungs with a needle today, which can't be easy for his parents to see.
I'm sure it's just a hiccup, but when it's your child why take chances?
So please, send some massive divine mojo in Ryan's direction. We want an entire battalion of guardian angels for this kid. Do it now.
