I think the default political stance for a lot of people is apathy.
If not, it's emotionally high liberalism stoked by years of indoctrination via education and popular media. I think education is the most pivotal factor, though. In part because my own liberal indoctrination was achieved through my years in public school. Thankfully my parents pulled me and put me in private school. It was several years before I began deconstructing the liberal basis imposed in my thinking of human nature and government, but I was no longer receiving that liberal tap 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 9 months out of every year.
If my parents had kept me in public school, I might have been another faceless, liberal brand, beating my chest and claiming that I was a centrist individual because I smoked pot and cared for nature and poor people. I think for non-liberal ideas to have a fair shake in main stream culture you'd have to dissolve govt influence in education. Hopefully I'm wrong and it won't take that much. Hopefully I'm wrong and free speech, talk radio, and dissent will be allowed to persist through this administration and make some noticeable waves.
