Winston Churchill on Socialism

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure,

  the creed of ignorance,

  and the gospel of envy,

its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

You should enter this as a quote, Javen.

What do you mean?  In a blog?

No, there's a special kind of content you can create called a 'Quote'. If you go to create content and click on the 'Quote' choice, you can put in the quote you have above, and it will show up in the random quote block.

Thanks

I'll do that.  Thanks.

Just did it.

But for some reason it has a space in between the quote.  Have no idea why it is doing that.

Yeah, sometimes you have to check the source code underneath. Although sometimes that view is kind of daunting. I edited it so that the entire quote appears on a single line. I've also found the 'blocks' button to be very useful for finding rogue paragraph blocks.

The 'blocks' button is on the lower right corner of the editing control block, right below the teaser button. Clicking it toggles the view, and shows you were paragraph breaks '<p></p>' show up. You can delete them in that view, too.

Anyway, your quote will show up now in the random quote block. Also, if you want to see your quotes, click on the 'My' tab of your profile to see all the quotes you (or someone else) has submitted. It should say 'My Quotes' ... but it doesn't. Grrr....

Nice - we have some voters who don't think President Obama is a socialist. My reason for believing him to be a socialist is that he endorses openly socialistic policies:

  • A single-payer healthcare system (the single payer being the government).
  • President Barack has used the power of the Treasury to protect labor unions.
  • Under Obama's leadership we've seen the government become majority stakeholders of companies in the auto industry, investment banking, and insurance.
  • Massive government spending and an unprecedented surge in deficit spending.
  • Obama is considering creating a 'Pay Czar' to regulate salaries.
  • Obama has already nullified contracts. If business contracts are no longer to be honored, but to be ignored when politics gets in the way, then we have politicized business, a bad precedent.

Power is being focused towards the federal government and away from individual citizens. This is socialism - state ownership or 'partnership' with industry. If money is power, ask yourself, 'Who is the single largest controller of wealth in the U.S.?'

It's President Barack Obama, not individual citizens, as it should be. That kind of power should be diffused among individuals, not concentrated in a single organization that is not truly accountable.
