July 4th VS Independence Day

Happy Independence Day

This is a bit early, but has been on my mind for a while.

Soon America will be 233 years old of Democracy goodness, unless Prince Obama of a booboo has anything to say about it, but that is neither here nor there.    It's all about July 4th...I mean "Independence Day."

I don't know what or why it has changed but, it's not called 4th of July Day.  Yes, it is on the 4th day.  Yes, it is in July.  But it is not 4th of July Day.  It is Independence Day.  I dare you to google Indepence Day and see what first pops up.  Did it change in 1996, because of the movie?  I'm curious.

I'm probably not going to parade in the streets, not display a hundred flags and not dress in Uncle Sam attire.  I never have, but Independence Day as it is called is an important day, much more than BBQ, getting drunk and fireworks.  It is about what our founding fathers did in their pursuit of freedom.

It is about the the Declaration of Independence that laid down the foundation for the U.S. Constitution, endorsing the fundamental principles of freedom we still uphold to this day.  (This last quote from history.com)

So when you get a chance and if you have forgotten what you learned in school.  I challenge you to go back to what Independence Day is really about.  Read about it at History.com or a HIstory book.  And reflect a little on what it is really about and be thankful for freedom and thankful for what our forefathers wnet through to get us to a place we are at to day.

Remember that we, unlike some countries have these freedoms and I hope one day they will be free as well.  So forget our differences for a day and celebrate.

Happy Independence Day...a little early.

Hot Dog Diplomacy

As of right now, America's Supreme Leader is still welcoming any Iranians who wish to attend Fourth of July celebrations at the White House or any of our embassies. What a colossal milquetoast of a president!

Obama can't even give the Iranians the cold shoulder in defense of freedom - that's how dedicated Obama is to diplomacy. Shouldn't an American President be a defender of human rights? Instead we've got a weiner for a president.

Of course he should be a

Of course he should be a defender of human rights, but he's too busy trying to be a friend to bullies who don't want to be friends.  He's not a freedom fighter, he's a lover.

You know it's bad when Law

You know it's bad when Law and Order is poking fun at the Obama administration's stance on Iran... watched an episode last night from May where the perp (murder suspect) seeks refuge in the Iranian embassy (UN mission), and the NYPD are rebuffed at every angle by the state department in their attempts to get him out. The State Dept rep states they don't want to inflame the Iranians as an excuse. The Detectives are unsatisfied, and with D.A. McCoy's permission, finally concoct a scheme to force the perp to choose to run from the Iranians, by making the Iranians thinking he was a Rogue Israeli spy.

Not that has anything to do with the OP. It is Independence Day. See http://www.opm.gov/Operating_Status_Schedules/fedhol/2009.asp

It's just like Washington's Birthday has been usurped as "Predsident's Day" in many circles. Just not in law. By law, the original names are still what they are.

The same link, subsitute 2010 for 2009 if you want to see next year's holidays. Or 2008 if you want to see last year's.

Happy Winter Solstice

Yeah, it's pretty funny to see people renaming these holidays. The stupidest example to date is the renaming of Columbus Day to 'Indigenous Peoples Day' by some filthy hippies at Berkeley.

I think it should be named 'White Conquerer Day', but that's just me.

And yet, Kwanzaa is still celebrated. Can I rename that holiday, please? PLEASE?!

How about 'Fake Black Holiday'?
