Zombieland
WARNING: A few spoilers here may ruin your fun.
I'm not much on horror, but once in a while I'll check something out. As soon I had seen this trailer I had to see this movie. Plus it had Woody Harrelson in it. I liked it so much I've now seen it twice.(remember twice)
This movie starts off with survival tips by the main character Columbus, he's from Ohio. Then kind of flashes back on how this all started with him. Not really how the world became zombies, but what made him go on the run. Apparently it was some virus that hit the world, but really that isn't important.
One night he gets a knock on the door at College and it is his neighbor and a girl he likes. She tells him a story about how on the way home she was chased by a crazy homeless man who tried to eat her. See Columbus's dream is to fall in love, so he let's her stay the night to keep her safe and maybe she'll like him. He also wants to find his parents.
They fall alseep on the couch and later Columbus wakes up with the girl foaming at the mouth, and spitting blood then she tries to kill him in which he takes her out twice(remember the word twice) with the back of the toilet. I mean way lays her good in the head.
So he takes off on the run. Thinking he's the only survivor, but runs into Tallahassee(Woody Harreslon) who loves killing zombies. He also loves twinkies and can't find none anywhere. It's kind of his mission to find twinkies. lol
They run into sisters Wichita and Little Rock who are cons and they con the guys pretty good twice. lol It's all about twice in this movie, trust me.
They end up in different situations along the way until they arrive in L.A. because Wichita wants to take Little Rock to a place they went to when their parents took them as kids. An amusement park
They also get star struck by the celebrity homes and stop at a certain celebrity's home, which I won't ruin but is hilarious and the coolest scenes in the movie. After a night there Wichita and Little Rock leave them once again and Columbus this time is heart broken, but determined to get his woman because they shared a moment
So Wichita and Little rock go to this amusement park and the most predictible part of the movie because as soon as Wichita turns on the electric all the zombies come there. Soon they are stuck on a ride and Columbus decides he's going to find them. Tallahassee wants to leave, but when Columbus crashes a motorcycle he pretty much changes his mind and helps Columbus.
So they get there and Tallahassee gets all his guns out and starts shooting in the air to distract while Columbus helps the girls.
When Columbus gets the to ride that they're stuck on there is one thing that stands in the way of them and him saving them. A Zombie Clown. lol This is funny because that's one of Columbus' fears. But he decides to break one of his 32 rules. Become a hero.
Columbus gets his girl, Tallahasee gets a twinkie, Wichita finds someone in Columbus she can trust and Little Rock may have found a father figure in Tallahassee.
I thought this movie was fun, funny, scary and had heart. It to me was more about a coming of age story than about zombies. Don't get me wrong there were zombies and there was gore and sick stuff, but it was funny. It was campy, yes, but was a good time for a horror movie. It also wasn't very long. It was only 81 minutes.
I've seen it twice as I said before. I've never seen a horror movie twice, not that I'm really a fan of horror. If you get a chance go see it for a Zombie good time.
8/10 for me.
