I don't know why, but passwords are not working. I had to use the 'reset password' function to get a new password for my account, here. I think it's been a problem since a few days ago. If anyone is having password issues, use the 'reset password' link at the login point. If your old email address is not working or accessible for whatever reason, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll reset your password manually.
I'm looking for a new host and considering upgrading the site to Drupal.
I thought this article summed up Prince Obama nicely. And I found it's analogy pretty funny.
This first sentence hooked me, lol I though, wow he is like Pinocchio.
"Day after day, week after week, as I watch in amazement the actions and decisions of our new, untrained and apparently naïve young president, I find myself thinking of Pinocchio."
Now someone please make an Obama face on Pinocchio. Please...that would be hilarious.
Well, it appears that the Akismet spam filtering plugin is working!
Rel, there's a single pingback spam comment awaiting nuclear destruction. I was about to incinerate it myself but figured you might enjoy doing it. Go to 'Comments' under Admin panel, click on 'Akismet Spam' (it should read (1) at the moment) and click on 'Delete All'.
1. Learn more about and decide whether or not to modify 'permalinks'
2. Install a backup feature.
3. Why are some photos lost? Replace if possible or rewrite entries.
4. Try to setup XAMPP again, for development purposes.
5. Develop some weekly entries.
6. Plug-ins to examine: wp-backup, wp-cron, Installer, Gravatar, wp-cache, Democracy
***Democracy added, and weekly backups scheduled. :)
7. Write more relaxed, thoughtful entries.
After hearing about Kope's issues with the last theme, I decided to check and see how it looked on IE6 and IE7, and it looked bad -- the right column would be shifted over to the right and drop down past the posts. I'm going to keep working on that until I can fix it. Again, I'm sorry that the site's graphics are in flux. I tried to setup a standalone local system (using XAMPP) but VISTA could not cope.
If I could do that, then I could do all this offline, get it right and then just upload it -- but because of the way WordPress works, that's a bit tough.
Ok, I'm sorry for the sudden change, but -- isn't this nice?!
I plan on making the columns a bit wider, and some other cosmetic changes, but later.
Update: I've added some security to cut down on the rash of bogus user registrations coming in from unsavory spammer-ridden places like former Soviet republics, Singapore, and 'Will's Free Swim'. (Apologies to Singapore and those former Soviet republics.) If you're a registered user you may have to put in the magical word once, and then you shouldn't have to bother with it again.
Notice anything different? I think I've found a better theme, so I'm going to be experimenting with this one for a bit. It has a function that would allow me to create random header images, which would be great, so... get used to the new colors!
I'm kidding -- I have the old theme and all the specs for it tucked away. If this theme doesn't treat us well we can always go back.
The Star Wars image will be gone by tonight, don't worry!
