If you want to see Andy and Red meet on the Mexican beach again, and feel it like it felt the first time, go and watch Slumdog Millionaire. It is written.”

Javen: Oskar, a bullied 12-year old, dreams of revenge. He falls in love with Eli, a peculiar girl. She can’t stand the sun or food and to come into a room she needs to be invited. Eli gives Oskar the strength to strike back but when he realizes that Eli needs to drink human blood to live he’s faced with a choice. How much can love forgive? ‘Let The Right One In’ is a story both violent and highly romantic, set in the Stockholm suburb of Blackeberg. With Swedish subtitles.

Rojo: “Quantum of Solace is a taut, superior slab of entertainment cinema. On one level light and simple but endlessly more complex under the surface. You may not think so as the final credits begin to roll, but it stays with you, mainly thanks to the completely satisfying nature of the performances and direction.”

I’ll give ‘Unnameable II’ slightly higher marks for featuring Patricia Ford nude for most of the film, Unnameable should be renamed ‘Unsexable’ in honor of the conspicuously asexual hero of the film. Funny from a b-movie standpoint, but not the least bit scary.

The one-liners were trying at times. The fit-in with existing canon is problematic as well, with there being a 3rd Sith, Asajj Ventress, whom Skywalker and Kenobi have to fight. Considering how much quality animation was in the prequel trilogy, this film is certainly a letdown in that department.

The Dark Knight is comic book summer entertainment taken to its logical next level. On a lesser scale it’s comparable to Brian Singer’s X-Men 2 and Superman Returns, both movies that sought to bring intelligence and complexity to a genre of movies that, for the most part, lack these things. The Dark Knight outshines all of these; it’s a dark morality play, an acting showcase, a masterpiece. Truly the summer’s Dark Knight, not what we were wanting, but what we needed.

The Other Boleyn Girl is an engaging historic romp, more about character than history, but you can’t shake the feeling that half of the cast are dark users and the other half completely powerless wet blankets. This aside, a recommended way to spend a couple of hours, even if only to bask in the sumptuousness of it all.

Aside from being relentlessly unscary, Arquette never seems to decide who he hates more, conservatives or hippies who spend too much time getting high, instead of trying to really change the world. Contains a few laughs.

These ‘Others’ are human, but have special abilities and powers that are realized only when they suddenly use their abilities to save themselves, or are exposed to other Others. The main character ‘Anton’ is a member of the ‘Night Watch’ a group of supernatural officers who exist to enforce the truce between Light and Dark. It’s got a great soundtrack, dizzying visuals, and an entertaining story.
